At Biddestone Holiday Cottages, we are committed to making our website accessible to everyone.
We aim to meet level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (WC3) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, where possible.
This means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of our website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of our website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of our website using a screen reader
The website is regularly evaluated against WCAG 2.1 AA level compliance using accessibility auditing software and in some cases manual evaluations are undertaken.

Content management standards
We aim wherever possible to ensure the website content is logically structured, ordered and labelled appropriately including alt text for all essential images.
Non-compliance with accessibility standards
Whilst we endeavour to ensure the accessibility of our site, there are some known limitations.
- Embedded video and audio content hosted on third party platforms (e.g. Youtube, Vimeo, Podbean) can sometimes be difficult to view and control using assistive technology.
- Alt tag and content labelling control is not always possible.
- PDFs and documents are not always accessible.
- We aim to provide captions and/or transcripts with all our videos but that might not be available for older videos.
- We do not always provide audio descriptions for videos but aim to provide visual content in alternative formats where possible.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission is responsible for enforcing the public sector bodies (websites and mobile applications) (No.2) accessibility regulations 2018.
